I have known Emily for at least 15 years. We both grew up in Bartlesville, both played fast pitch softball, and our fathers were good friends. Emily and I look alike even though we are not really related. When we were younger, people were alway asking Em if she had an older sister, or they would just call her Linsey by mistake and vice versa. Sometimes people would even argue with us and tell us that we were wrong and that we did have a sister who looked just like us. After a couple of years, we just finally started telling people we were sisters. I was so excited to call and tell her she would be an aunt, not once but twice, so you can imagine how excited I was when she told me I would be an aunt! After having two boys, I was super excited to find out that she was having Baby Kate….and maybe a little jealous too.

Kate was born May 22, 2009, and Jacob and I took a road trip to Dallas to see her. It was Jacob’s first time to travel to Texas so he was excited. After two hours on the road, I think I heard “Are we there yet?” every thirty minutes. We made it to the hospital and I finally got to see Kate for a few hours. Em wasn’t feeling well, so she didn’t make it home from the hospital until Sunday. Jacob and I decided to stay one more night and drive home Monday, which was Memorial Day so I was a little nervous about driving home in holiday traffic. We went over to Jason and Em’s house Monday afternoon and spent a few more hours with them and their families. Em still wasn’t feeling well and was extremely tired (duh….she just had a baby), but she decided to go ahead and have me take Kate’s newborn pictures. It didn’t go exactly as we would have liked, but I still got some good shots of Baby Kate. She was not a happy camper and mom was extremely stressed out, so we cut the shoot short and called it good. Here are a few pictures of my beautiful new niece!

I had the pleasure of taking Hallie Jo’s 1st birthday pictures back in May. Hallie is the youngest of 4 and there is a lot of running around in her house. Mom decided not to do the birthday cake since she was squeezing in pictures around a day of running the older kids to practice, swim lessons, and camp. I met Hallie Jo’s parents about a year ago at church, and they are two of the most sincere and loyal people I know. I have learned so much about this family over the last several months, and I have watched their oldest daughter grow so much spiritually. I am amazed at how much she has devoted herself to God and she is only a 6th grader. I had so much fun taking Miss Hallie Jo’s 1 year pictures even though I was on a time limit. Thanks Cheri and Jimmy for letting me capture this moment for you!

Ok, so I am just a little bit behind! I promised I would show you some of the things we’ve been up to the last couple of months and I decided to start back in May with Copan’s Graduation. I posted some of these on the old blog, but I wanted to share again. Congratulations to the class of 2009, you did it!

I have been getting many e-mails and calls about what happened to the website and blog. I decided a couple of months ago to redesign the company logo and give the whole company a fresh new look. What I didn’t know was how much time it was going to take to redo a whole website and blog. I switched hosting companies and website companies and just planned on having the site down for a couple of days. Well, those couple of days have turned into a couple of weeks, but it has been worth the wait. I am very happy with the new website and the new blog! There is still so much more I want to do with both, but as many of you know I took a new full time teaching job last week. Starting a new school year and a brand new job on top of trying to get everything for AFYP completed has definitely been a challenge, but also worth every minute of it. I am launching the new website tomorrow, so I am very excited to get your feedback on what you think. Keep checking back here to see sneak peeks of sessions and to get the latest news and updates about AFYP. I will be posting some new posts over the next week or two of some of the shoots we did over the summer. Football season kicks off in a couple of weeks and fall is just around the corner, so start thinking about booking those holiday sessions early!
